Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity


Are you passionate about preparing students for tertiary study, and delivering teaching that truly makes an impact? The He Ara Takatū - Tertiary Foundation Certificate (TFC) team is looking for a Professional Teaching Fellow to join our vibrant, student-focused community.

Based at our Tai Tonga (Manukau) campus, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the academic journeys of learners from diverse backgrounds — all while working with a collaborative, warm, and dedicated team.

Ngā Haepapa Matua | Key Responsibilities (not limited too):


As a PTF in TFC Maths, you’ll be at the heart of:

  • Teaching foundation-level Mathematics and Statistics that prepares students for a wide range of undergraduate pathways

  • Shaping course content and assessments

  • Using innovative teaching approaches to enhance student learning

  • Supporting students one-on-one, helping them build confidence and capability

  • Contributing to a strong team culture, well-connected across the Department of Mathematics and the TFC programme


**Ideal start date January 2027**

This is a part-time (32 hrs per week), 12-month fixed term role

The remuneration is between $105,791- $128,065 per annum, dependent on skills and experience (pro-rated)

He kōrero mōu | About you


The ideal candidate holds an MSc or higher degree in a relevant discipline and possesses a recognised teaching qualification, with experience teaching mathematics in secondary settings. They are confident in coordinating courses and using a learning management system (e.g., Canvas), and they enjoy working with learners at varying levels and from diverse backgrounds. This person communicates clearly, collaborates effectively, and brings a positive, student-centred energy to their work. They are also keen to innovate, adapt, and embrace new technologies.
