Responsibilities

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity


This is a rewarding opportunity to support and inspire the next generation of student as they consider their study pathways. In this role, you will help secondary school learners and their whānau navigate university options with confidence, ensuring they have the information, guidance and support they need to make informed decisions.


As the Schools and Community Recruitment Adviser, you will work closely with designated faculties to deliver well‑coordinated outreach, engagement and recruitment activities across schools and communities. You will serve as the key link between faculties and the Schools and Community Engagement team to ensure a cohesive, high‑quality recruitment experience. In addition, you will:


  • Deliver engaging school and community presentations, events and outreach activities to attract and support prospective school‑leaver students.

  • Coordinate discipline‑specific outreach, engagement and recruitment initiatives in partnership with designated faculties.

  • Provide programme‑specific insights and expertise to shape compelling digital and in‑person engagement content.

  • Build strong relationships with careers advisers, teachers, school leaders, students, whānau and community groups.

  • Monitor school‑leaver applications, offers and enrolments in your faculty portfolio, contributing to achieving recruitment targets.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the school‑leaver experience and strengthen engagement activities.


This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week on a permanent contract. The salary range for this role is $73,400 – $90,700, depending on skills and experience.

You will bring:


  • A relevant degree and/or equivalent experience, knowledge or training.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong time‑management skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Experience working collaboratively in diverse, cross‑functional teams. An understanding of the Agile methodology is advantageous

  • A full, Clean New Zealand drivers license
